Vienna remains as a major tourist destination in the European Union with millions of tourists visiting the city every year. The city is the capital of the Republic of Austria and also one of the nine states of the country. It is the largest city of the country with an estimated population of 1.8 million with in the city limits.

The metropolitan area of the city is one of the largest in the European Union (EU) with an estimated population of 2.5 million. The city remains as the hub of economic, commercial, cultural and political activities.  Also it is the tenth largest city in EU by population.
