Android Phone

The Android competition between the mobile phone manufacturers has been reached a very intense level as every company is trying to develop Android phones with ultimate new and fast functionalities; news to more toughen this competition is that Motorola has planned to build a new and unique form factor Android phone.

The detailed information regarding the Motorola’s phone has not yet been provided to the media but only the news of release has been revealed in the AT&T conference and it only shows that ‘A Motorola Smartphone, powered by MOTOBLUR, with a unique form factor’ is expected to be planned.

The details have not been provided but the news shows us a thing, that Motorola is going at a very fast pace to become a strongest contender of the Android competition. The earlier phones by Motorola were available for most of countries along the globe but this new Android handset will be available only in US.

motorola.gifThe world over financial recession has turned the world upside down. Many big fishes are getting caught in the recession nest. Motorola seems to be one of them as it is cutting down jobs on a large scale.

On Tuesday, Motorola Inc. announced here in San Francisco, that in the 4th quarter, it will lay off 400 more employees. The original plan was to lay off 1500 employees in the 4th quarter, which has been changed to an increment of 400, and now instead of 1500, 1900 employees will have to go home.

According to reports this change has occurred because of increased charges. The total of 3000 will remain constant. These jobs will be cut down from the handset department.  Reason thereby, the revenue of handset department dropped to $3.1 billion during the last quarter, which is a hell of a loss of 31 percent.  Moreover, the department’s operating loss rouse up from $248 million to $840 millions. Now there is another jewel in the iPhone 3G’s crown. A report from NPD Group shows that the iPhone 3G has surpassed the Motorola RAZR in the Q3, as it was the leading handset purchased by US adult consumers.

Motorola RAZR

In US, the RAZR has been ruling as the top-selling handset for the last 12 Qs. The report is based on more than 150,000 online consumer surveys conducted each month to represent all 18 years and older US consumers.

“This replacement of the RAZR by the iPhone shows a cut-off point shift in handset design from fashion to fashionable functionality. During third quarter, four out of the five best-selling handsets had advanced Internet features and were optimized for messaging,” said Ross Rubin, who is NPD’s director of industry analysis.
