Spotify to branch out to cell phone sector
Rumors were there that Spotify was in talks with cell phone networks on a possible deal, but now the company has confirmed to launch its mobile platform.
In an interview with Revolution magazine, Spotify boss Daneil Ek says the company is looking for a deal with some operators to offer the service on Wi-Fi as well as on 3G.
But it would take some time to complete the plan and Spotify is looking for some ways to further expand its service that is already growing with 40,000 users per day and most of them are from the UK.
This new service, somewhat similar to Last.fm, will be a service first of its kind in the UK. Just like Last.fm you will find loads of mobile applications as well as Nokia.
The new service will be used in the same way as on mobile as it can be used on a computer.
According to Spotify spokesman, “It’s no more a secret that we will be bringing a handset in the coming days and the thing we have developed is one of the most requested features from a large number of users, and we are looking forward to provide a really nice service.”
