“Project Natal”: Show Stealer at E3
Microsoft has announced a new controller free experience of Xbox 360 named as “Project Natal” at E3. This project will free the user from the requirement of a controller. It will use full body motion capture as well as voice recognition for controlling the console. For supporting this immensely impressive future concept, Steven Spielberg came on to the stage, too. No final date of the launch has been given yet.
This is a 3D motion sensor concept, which will be compatible with all the Xbox versions available currently. So, the “barrier of controller” will no more hinder the full gaming experience for Xbox users. Spielberg said in promotion of the project, “It’s not reinventing the wheel; it’s about no wheel at all.”
Don Mattrick, senior vice president for the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft said, “Today with cultural visionaries at our side and controller-free gaming on our horizon, Xbox 360 authored a new page in home entertainment history.” The concept is great; bend in a direction and the see animal shadow shapes on the screen, wave and the on screen avatar will follow. Strangely, unintended motions are filtered.
This is not a novel concept; it has been in the minds since ages. Apart form gaming, just think for a while about the possibilities such system can solidify. Think about a system that knows your intentions, your moods and emotional status and acts accordingly. It seems as if this technological development will take us to a point where our best pals will be robots, knowing us better than we know ourselves.
