Despite protests from some PC users who think they are being forced using Microsoft Vista (XP’s successor), Microsoft announced its schedule to stop selling Windows XP to chief computer manufacturers and retailers on Monday.
PC makers like Hewlett-Packard Co. and Dell Inc. have cleared XP-loaded computers from their stocks. It is essential for those users who consider XP must for their new machine that they buy Vista Business or Vista Ultimate firs and then lawfully “downgrade” to Widows XP.
However, it will be allowed to smaller PC builder shops to purchase Windows XP for resale till January end. For ultra-low-cost PCs like Asus Eee PC, a XP version will remain available.
A appeal, posted by a group of computers users on Info world, demanded nosily to Microsoft to continue the sale of XP before the availability of its next operating system known as Windows 7.According to Microsoft, the release of Windows 7 is expected in 2009.
Microsoft announced to provide complete technical support for Windows XP till 2009 and limited support till 2014.
