Yahoo and Google advertising deal may see further delay, as both the companies are considering delaying the move to accommodate the inquires of the US department of Justice.
This $800 million deal (have Google sell advertising on some of Yahoo Websites) ran into trouble when the apparition of anti-competitiveness was raised and it was also seen as a way to prevent Microsoft buying out Yahoo.
Google stated on this issue: “We are still in discussion with the Department of Justice and we have agreed to stop the implementation of the agreement for some time while these discussion are continued”Some other Internet big players have shown concern about this possible deal as they are considering it a move that leads anti-competitiveness.
One lawyer said on that issue: “Things are somewhat clear and we may not get a clean bill of health in time, and possibly it may get even worse. They are not willing to go forward as they have been told that it’s a very serious problem.”
If the deal doesn’t take place under legal scrutiny, one thing is quite obvious that Microsoft may come sniffing round an even more damaged Yahoo.
