Now, Apple has listed top 20 applications, both free and paid for, on the iTunes. This ranking is based on the popularity of these applications, understood through downloads from the Application Store since iPhone’s launch. The more times an application was downloaded, the higher its rank floated.

It is quite a possibility that you might have downloaded most of these top 20 applications, but still you can go and check out if you missed one accidentally. iPhone users have been constantly downloading fresher applications from the Application store to enhance the functionality of their phone, as well as add to the fun this wondrous phone provides them.

Regarding UK ranking, the top five free applications and games include Facebook, iPint, Google Earth, Pac-Man Lite, and Touch Hockey. As far as paid for applications and games are concerned, the top five amongst them are Crash Bandicoot, Moto Chaser, Virtual Pool, Cro-Mag Rally and Flick Fishing. Surprisingly, all of the latter mentioned are games.

David Rowan, editor of Wired UK magazine said, “With the amount of downloads they’ve had since the App Store launched last July, it must be one of the fastest rising businesses since the launch of the internet”.
