Intel unveils new 160GB SSD
Intel has uncovered its new 160GB SSD that has been named as the X25-M and it will be available in a 2.5-inch version and its 1.8-inch version (X18-M) is due in the coming month.
It was in August when Intel revealed 80GB X18-M and X25-M version and they were the first solid state drive products from the chip maker.
Intel’s cell NAND flash memory technology has been utilized in its 32GB Intel X25-E Extreme SATA that is quite efficient to increase input and output operations in seconds. On the other hand, the new X25M utilized multiple cell memory for maximizing its capacity.
Different tests of the product suggest that these new SSDS would prove quite faster than different available SSDs in the market.
Still no word about the pricing of these new 160GB SSDs and we are also waiting for what uses Intel’s partners look for these higher capacity devices.
2009 has been declared as the netbook year and we can expect that Intel will be shipping these SSDs at that moment.
