Just stop worrying about the upcoming slump, as Research Company Futuresource Consulting believes that soon you will be buying more gadgets than ever.

The company predicts that despite a worldwide economic slowdown, house price collapse and job loses, the sales of consumer electronics may see a considerable increase in the coming years.
Sarah Carroll, director Futuresource, says in this connection: “Instead of going on holiday, consumers consider the buying of new electronics goods a better value-for-money option.”
Carroll adds, “The results of our study from the economic slump of 2001 show that DVD players and digital cameras kept growing sharply even in the stagnated economic circumstances and it gives us a clear indication that home entertainment may ride the storm.”
“Similarly, if we recall the recession of the early 1980s, there was an amazing 440% growth in VCRs sales during 1980-83.
Carroll thinks that key products can resist the downward trends with good sales: “It is expected that the growth of flat panel will continue during 2009 and beyond. Similarly, Blu-ray shipments to European markets may be more than triple between 2008 and 2009.”
