A survey conducted by the Pew Internet & American Life Project suggests that gadgets used these days are too confusing, too complicated and too prone to breakdowns.
In this survey, they included 2000 American adults who were using consumer electronics of different makers. They found that almost 48% people were not able to set up a new mobile phone or internet connection without seeking others help.
Another serious issue for almost 44% people was breakdowns with web connections, as they suffered some serious downtime during the previous 12 months.
Not surprising enough, the next most common culprits were none other than computers, as almost 39 percent of laptops and desktops found functioning erratically over the course of a year.
So far mobile phones are concerned; they proved more reliable with 29%, Blackberrys and other 26%, while MP3 players were rock-solid with 15%.
People over 50 experienced 5% less failures the people under 30 and it confirmed older users are more careful of their phones.
When it’s about fixing these gadgets, most of the people in America rely on humans instead of technological help. Almost a third fixed these problems by themselves, a fewer used tech support and almost 15 % seek a friend’s help.
It was quite shocking to find that around 7 % were unable to get their devices fixed at all.
