Though Amazon Kindle and Kindle 2 were highly praised by the keen and interested e-book reading community, the Kindle DX has been welcomed in a better way. Features:

Put your previous Kindle 2 on this new device and you’ll see the difference for yourself; the Kindle DX has screen the size of whole Kindle 2. 9.7” Monochrome E Ink display gives one such a realistic reading experience that one is amazed. It is almost the size of a standard novel, and it feels as if you are reading a real novel holding it in your hand as the amount of content seen on the screen is almost the same as of a real novel. Only that the hardcover will not make you feel like holding it in both hands, as Kindle DX does. Also, Amazon is not offering this huge screen for nothing in return; the Kindle DX will cost you $10 more than Kindle 2.

The gadget has more memory (4GB) than Kindle 2 (2GB). Sadly, you won’t find memory expansion slot in the newer version, too. Though there is ample space for 3500 e-books; but in case you run out of space you can simply delete some older books to make space for newer ones. When you will want to re-read those deleted titles, just download them again free of cost.

Also, one can read PDF files on their kindle DX. Another exciting new feature is auto-rotation from landscape to portrait mode and vice versa when turned. Font size is adjustable, web browser has been improved and battery life is awesome.

  • Native PDF support
  • Auto-rotate form landscape to portrait mode by rotating
  • Huge library
  • Built in free wireless
  • 4 GB memory
  • Faster processor
  • Adjustable font size
  • Great battery life

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • Heavier than Kindle 2
