256GB solid state drive form Samsung
With the launch of its first mass-produced 256GB SSD, Samsung has again upped the game in solid state hard drives.
This new 256GB SSD is the best performing SSD for personal computers according to Samsung’s claims and so far performance is concerned, it’s twice more capable than Samsung’s 64GB and 128GB SSDs.
With sequential write rates of 200MB/s, it combines sequential read rates of 220/MB that is a difference of just 10% if compared to rival drives.
The new SSD is almost three times as fast at storing data if compared to a typical 7200rpm notebook drive.
A mechanical hard drive consumes 2W or more, while this 2.5-inch just uses 1.1W of power with its 81g weight.
The SSD has a blistering erase speed of 100GB per minute at the time when cops start battering down the door and available with Samsung’s prosperity disk encryption technology.
There is no word on price but it expected that the cutting-edge data muncher would be available with a price tag of £1000.
