SAN DIEGO - In a week of heroic moments at the U.S. Open, Tiger Woods delivered the biggest one yet. This doesn’t give him one more major, but another opening.

During the last blow on Sunday afternoon at Torrey Pines, Woods stroke a 12-foot birdie putt banged on the hole and spins into the back corner of the cup with no inch to spare.

In a career packed with clutch putts, this solitary put Woods into an 18-hole final round Monday against Rocco Mediate who had scoring room watching the 18th hole theatrics spread out on TV. “Mind-boggling,” Mediate commented. “I knew he’d make it.”

They ended on 1-fewer than 283, the first time since 2004 that somebody broke parity in a U.S. Open.
Referees stopped up with an even-par 71 omitting a chance to purge Woods while his lodge to the 18th stayed atop the ridge and missing him a 30-footer that he two-putted for par.

That seemed like good impact while Woods and Lee Westwood of England were shot behind that hit into the hollow on each side of the fairway on the 527-yard dying hole and had to lounge up.
Westwood had gone first from 15 feet above the hole, but his putt lost lick and curved away. He shot 73.

Woods was in the situation of a clean lie during the ditch that he could have gone for the emerald in two if the U.S. Open wasn’t on the stroke. As a replacement for, Woods hit an appalling shot to the right and into the bumpy and had to look forward to that his 60-degree lodge was the right choice. It settled 12 feet away and giving him thus far a new putt that he couldn’t afford to fail to see.

Woods commented, “I have fun probably 2½ holes outside right. Now take it back and make a pure stroke, because once it starts slowing down there you don’t know what’s going to happen. All I could control is my stroke that is the what’s more important”.

Sports can be best defined as an entertainment pursuit, amusement, hobby, exercise, and a game. In ancient times sports did not have a definite form. Gradually streamlining with rules and regulations, much endeavor was taken in its publicity worldwide, and sports became very common amongst every individual.

Many renowned sporting associations helped sports to grow and become popular universally. “International-Olympic-Committee” set up in 1894 arranged the first ever Olympic games. It was held at Athens, in 1896. Similarly in 1930 the first “Commonwealth-Games” was arranged amid the “Commonwealth Nations”. The entire American countries started the “Pan-American-Games” in 1951. The “Asian-Games” amongst the countries of Asia, and the “African-Games” amongst the African countries also followed suit.

We frequently see various kinds of sports being played globally – soccer, cricket, baseball, tennis, volleyball, swimming, gymnastics, and boxing to name a few.

Nowadays technology has taken sports well ahead by leaps and bounds. The performance of an athlete and his equipment’s uniqueness are measured and evaluated by modern technology, thus helping the athlete and his coach to focus on the scope of improvements. An athlete’s health and fitness is also governed by the modern technology. For example soccer balls and baseball bats have experienced modifications. Cameras capturing the techniques of an athlete, is also suggesting development techniques. This has revolutionized the sports worldwide.

The sports-television-channels have added color and perks to the sports fans of various countries worldwide. ESPN, one of the most popular sports channel covers a broad spectrum of different sports. “Racing”, through the “Speed-Channel” gives fun filled amusement to its fans. “NFL-Network” contributes to the “National-Football-League”.

“Awards” for the achievers have heightened the performance and the self-esteem of the athletes globally, signifying a much superior progression in the sporting ring.

At the present time the integrity is in question now. Many sporting organizations are up on their toes to defend their sport getting stained owing to betting and doping. We hope the modern technology would help us to eradicate and eliminate the current fraudulence and let the integrity flag flying high.
