The Diabetes, one of the most common problems of majority of people worldwide has now got some new risks due to its drugs, according to new research Postmenopausal women with diabetes taking thiazolidinediones (TZDS), including rosiglitazone and pioglitazone may be at higher risk of fractures especially when having type 2 disease.
The report of this new research got published in The Endocrine Society’s Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism (JCEM).
According to William Herman, MD, MPH, of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and senior author of the study “Our study shows that increased fracture risk is associated with higher TZD dose, but no difference between rosiglitazone and pioglitazone is apparent suggesting a class effect of TZDs on fracture risk”.
