Results of a Japanese study indicate that eating two to three ounces of baby broccoli every day can be very effective broccolito prevent against those stomach bugs that become the cause of gastritis ulcers and can even lead to stomach cancer.

Sulforaphane is a natural biochemical that is abundantly found in fresh broccoli sprouts and this chemical also seems to boost the production of an enzyme in the bowels that prove quite effective to shield against inflammation, oxygen radicals and DNA-damaging chemicals.

An article, published in the journal Cancer Prevention Research, says that some serious health conditions can be avoided by eating two or three ounces of fresh broccoli every day.

According to Jed Fahey, a nutritional biochemist, says about the new findings: “It is, indeed, a food that can be very helpful to prevent various gastric problems and even help to protect against stomach cancer.”

sodium-supermarket-foods.gifHealth conscious consumer always look for health-friendly diets, however, these consumer must keep in mind that many foods look health-friendly, but they are not in actual. Only few are aware of the fact that low-fat products have higher amounts of sodium than full-fat foods.

These are the findings of a report that has been published online in Consumer Reports magazine Monday.

In their study, the researchers analyzed nearly 36 common consumer food products available at supermarkets and they found higher amounts of sodium in some unexpected products even including such products as didn’t taste salty.

Jamie Hirsh, who is a health editor at Consumer Reports, states in a news release: “We have found that many low-fat food products available in the markets have higher amounts of sodium, as sodium is used in these foods to compensate flavor.”
