Tobacco Tax

Japan has been long considered as a smoker’s paradise but now Japanese government has been planning to take some very significant steps to remove this tag from their country.

And this Tuesday in a meeting the Japanese officials said that they are planning to raise the tax on tobacco and the implementation will start in the next year. The cabinet in that meeting approved the proposal that aims to hike the duty by 3.5 yen a cigarette.

This new proposal seems to fulfill the government’s plans to reduce smoking as the price of each cigarette will rise to quite a high amount. The move is expected to raise the price of each cigarette of about 5 yen and of that 1.5 yen would go to the makers and retailers. This rise will put Japan into the list of those developed countries which are putting high prices for the cigarettes.

youngsters_job_jpgA new research proposes that overworking can turn a youngster into a small criminal. The researchers noticed that the fifth graders who did informal jobs like baby-sitting and news papered distribution have the greater ratio of turning toward the habits of smoking, drinking and street fighting.

The research can’t find a direct link between working and offensive behavior of younger kids but it explained the duration at job did matter a lot.

It might be resulted due to long stay at jobs that do not allow the parents to properly monitor their children.

A prior research has recommended that grown-up children have a greater tendency to substance abuse and law breaking. But the recent research is the first one to take the issue of younger kids and work.

bowel-cancer.gifThe results of a new survey suggest that people are cutting down processed meat intake after reports that link it to cancer. This survey suggests that one out of every ten people is trying to consume less meat.

There was a report from World Cancer Research Fund last year that revealed people, who took two sausages and two slices of bacon everyday, had a 63 percent higher risk of developing bowel cancer.

Aside from meat, alcohol and smoking are two other key factors, as a bowel cancer charity says.

In that report, the evidence for the possible dangers from consuming processed meat were highlighted, but it also gave consideration to some other factors like lifestyle and other components of  diet that could increase or decrease the risk for cancer.

More often to have something potent for lunch can become the cause of bad breath, but you must keep in mind that badbad breath breathe can also indicate an underlying health problem.

Here is the list of these possible causes of bad breath that need to be checked by doctor:

  1. Sometimes a pus-filled cavity or tooth , or wearing dentures can cause bad breath
  2. Smoking and Alcoholism often become the cause of bad breath.
  3. Similarly, certain medications also become the cause of bad breath.
  4. Bad dental hygiene, gum disease  or an impacted tooth can cause bad breath
  5. To lodge some foreign object in the nostril is often a cause of bad breath especially in children its quite common.
  6. Taking too much vitamin supplements and pills can cause bad breath
  7. Sinusitis or a throat or lung infection sometimes is a cause of bad breath.

According to a US study, lung disease will cause more than 80 million deaths in China in the next 25 years. However, the researchers believe that a large of number of those premature deaths can be avoided.

In this study, the researchers focused on the disturbing impact of the common practice of burning wood or coal at home and smoking.

The researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health research assessed considering a 30-year period (Including the last five and the next 25 years.)

Though lung disease is considered a leading cause of death in China, the study suggests a shocking rise as it calculates around 83 million deaths in the 30-year period.

Lung cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease are being considered the major killer in this connection.

The lead author of the study, Professor Majid Ezzati , says that many millions of lives can be saved if the government of China shows some serious concern.
