People who claim to have psychic abilities employ different techniques of psychic reading. A qualified psychic can employ one or many focused areas of capability such as distant readings, Tarot reading, astrology or horoscope readings, numerology, palm reading, past-life readings, aura readings or psychometry.

Psychic readings in which the skilled psychic reader meets the patient or the client on whom the reading is performed in person are called face-to-face or real readings. In many cases, the clients wish to perform these acts on the internet or over the telephone and these sessions are called online psychic readings. Some psychic readers also claim to use a method called remote psychic viewing in which they aren’t in any contact with the person but possess the ability to read and accurately predict.
