IBM (International Business Machines) has brought a very revolutionary system for the medical purposes and this is the all-in-one electronic cardiogram management system that is basically aimed for the detection and management of cardiovascular diseases and it has been released in China.

According to IBM, for the development of this system they have teamed up with Chinese electronic cardiogram systems provider Beijing Goodwill Information and Technology Co Ltd.

This new system will affectively help the doctors to detect the cardiac problem of patient by analyzing the ECG report.

Another exciting capability that has been claimed for this system by IBM is that this system will enable the doctors to monitor their patients by mobile devices.

Metabolic syndrome has been considered as among the fastest growing public health problems around the world. Scientists have found that this is one of the major seminal causes for the development of ‘type 2 diabetes’, and other types of cardiovascular diseases. Various cardiovascular factors assemble to form a cluster including indulines resistance, central obesity, hypertension, and atherogenic dyslipidemia in order to be clubbed as “Metabolic Syndrome”.

Dr. James R. Churilla and Dr. Robert F. Zoeller Jr. have recently accomplished a complete review of the relationship between physical activity and metabolic syndrome. According to them there are five different definitions of ‘metabolic syndrome’ that have been considered appropriate by the medical societies. But owing to its enhanced clinical utility and result orientations, most of the current researches are based on the concept of metabolic syndrome recognized by the ‘National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP)’.

RedWineFor a good many years now it has been found that the red wine helps keep arteries clean. Red wine made from the skins of red grapes is known to benefit the heart and blood vessels to some extent. There are many studies to support the specific beneficial effects of the red wine.A recent study done by the researchers at the ‘Peter Munk Cardiac Centre’ of the ‘Toronto General Hospital’ found that the positive effects of the wine disappeared with the intake of two drinks.

As a part of the protective drive initiated by the researchers in the previous studies, the recent study also advocates the moderate or light consumption of wine and other alcoholic drinks. The researchers tried to determine the differences between the effects of wine and the alcohol on the blood pressure, arteries and the heart. Thirteen volunteers participated in this real time study.
