Is your asthma getting worst and you don’t know the reason for it? Don’t worry a recent study regarding the asthma has been taken by Australian researchers and they have found that eating high fat and high energy meals may not be advisable for people with asthma because this condition can lead to the airway inflammation and it can also suppress the benefits of asthma controlling medicines, so may be your asthma is also getting bad because of this.

The study is though a very basic one and further studies are required for the confirmation of this issue but still there must be some reality in the findings because high fat foods have never being thought to bring goodness for health.

The findings of this research were presented recently at the American Thoracic Society ATS 2010 International Conference in New Orleans, Dr. Lisa Wood, a research fellow of the University of Newcastle, New South Wales, and colleagues have worked on this study and they have monitored many asthma patients and their eating routines for quite some time.

sodium-supermarket-foods.gifHealth conscious consumer always look for health-friendly diets, however, these consumer must keep in mind that many foods look health-friendly, but they are not in actual. Only few are aware of the fact that low-fat products have higher amounts of sodium than full-fat foods.

These are the findings of a report that has been published online in Consumer Reports magazine Monday.

In their study, the researchers analyzed nearly 36 common consumer food products available at supermarkets and they found higher amounts of sodium in some unexpected products even including such products as didn’t taste salty.

Jamie Hirsh, who is a health editor at Consumer Reports, states in a news release: “We have found that many low-fat food products available in the markets have higher amounts of sodium, as sodium is used in these foods to compensate flavor.”

There are many drugs factors behind the asthma such as smoking, cocaine, hashing and wining etc. The other causes of asthma are hereditary, chemicals, pollution, industrial waste, lack of exercising, oil foodstuffs and obscure environment etc.

The most common symptoms of asthma are acute inhaling, exhaling, chest pain, irritation, anxiety, fatigue, dizziness, difficult walking and lack of interest in daily spheres etc.

The preventions of asthma are not difficult to understand. The precautionary measures of asthma would include around leave of drugs i.e, smoking, drinking and hashing etc. The aerobic exercise will have to be adopted as soon as possible, because aerobic exercises would diminish the intensity of acute and difficult breathing.

A telephonic survey has been recently conducted by ‘Harris Interactive’ on behalf of the National Council on ‘Patient Information and Education (NCPIE)’ to determine the various circumstances under which consumers are most likely to succumb to self-medication for themselves and their children. The survey was supported by ‘sanofi-aventis’. Sample of 1,005 adults’ ages 18+ were randomly selected and interviewed out of which 650 were exclusively identified for self medication before or instead of visiting their doctor.

It also attempted to know the different factors which encourage consumers to take non-prescription or over-the-counter medications before or instead of consulting their doctor.

The results show that 76% of American adults in spite of knowing the risks involved use non-prescription medications in order to save time, money and a trip to the doctor. Most of the consumers were found self treating seasonal allergies and year-round allergies. Few percent also reported self-medicating for cough and cold, seasonal or year-round allergies, heartburn, or severe headaches. Most of them admitted doing this due to past experience treating the condition however the majority accepted the possibility of risks involved while doing this.
