Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer says
DeLellis Henderson and Colleagues’ study, published in the journal Contraception that intends to investigate the link between abortion and breast cancer (ABC), has been commented by The Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer in the following manner.
“This deceitful study is another proof of the existing wayward perversion by many well-known researchers of an established link between breast cancer and abortion” stated Dr. Joel Brind who is president of the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute.
A commentary, which discusses the study’s notable flaws, is being provided by the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer. Some serious flaws that underestimate the risk are as follow.
1) Almost one out of every five that has breast cancer was counted as not having breast cancer in that study.
2) Researchers showed wrong evidence of the deficiency of a loss of the protecting effect of a full period pregnancy in aborted women. They used a wrong comparison group by comparing childless women with abortion to those who were never pregnant as they didn’t present any proof of such effect.
3) The raw data that presenting how many controls had induced abortions not cancer was omitted by the researchers.
A senior author in the study Dr. Leslie Bernstein told, Cancerpage.com in 2003, about the reasons behind her disliking to the Abortion/Breast cancer link, “ I would never support to go around and tell them that having babies is the right way to decrease breast cancer risk.
While on the other hand, Karen Malec who is president of the Coalition on Abortion/breast Cancer asserted that DeLellis Henderson and colleagues must learn to do a proper research or at least avoid playing politics with women’s lives.
To save the lives of women by giving education and information on abortion as a risk for breast cancer, The Coalition on Abortion/Breast cancer is an international organization that was founded to serve this purpose.
