Pregnancy after Miscarriage Can Be Safer: Study Revealed
Miscarriage after pregnancy leaves many dangers of the next pregnancy in women, recently a Scottish research was carried on this issue and it has revealed that women who gets pregnant after six months of having miscarriage carries the best chances of having the healthy pregnancy period with a fewer chance of having complications.
While talking about this research, lead researcher Dr. Sohinee Bhattacharya, a lecturer in obstetric epidemiology at the University of Aberdeen, Dugald Baird Centre for Research on Women’s Health at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital in Aberdeen “Our data showed that at least in Scottish women, there is no justification in delaying a pregnancy following an uncomplicated miscarriage”.
For the sake of this study, the researchers collected data of 30,937 women who has miscarriages in their first pregnancy and then they got pregnant again. The women were admitted in Scottish hospitals between 1981 and 2000. After the study the researchers concluded that those women who have got pregnant just six months after their pregnancy were less likely to miscarry again as compared to those women who have got pregnant at least 12 months after the miscarriage.
Julia Shelley, an associate professor from the School of Health and Social Development at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia, and author of an accompanying journal editorial was of the belief that this study has not resulted in a conclusive answer, we can’t surely say that conceiving 6 months after miscarriage is the only solution for having a healthy pregnancy again. According to her “I think we can say that the study suggests that there is no harm in conceiving again immediately following a miscarriage”.
Another statement regarding this issue came from Dr. George Attia, an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and according to that “I agree women should wait a couple of months after a miscarriage then try again, but we really never had the hard evidence why we do that”.
From these statements we can just say that, more work should be performed on this issue so that we can reach the exact answer to this query.
