So this as a really astonishing fact that is revealed and this study has definitely challenged the earlier findings. According to the author of study Stein Atle Lie a professor in the surgical science department of university of Bergin Norway “Previous studies suggesting that increased mortality exists for as long as 60 or 90 days post hip or knee replacement surgery may be wrong. We believe the risk is tied to a much shorter duration”.

This research has been carried upon 81,856 patients of Australia and Norway who have underwent total knee replacement and among them 106,254 patients were those who had total hip replacement. And among this data the research concluded that the risk of death for 26 days after the surgery was about 0.1 percent. It has also been concluded that male patients and those who are older than 70 years have greater risk of death for 26 days after surgery. This research has in fact opened some other areas for further studies and hopefully we’ll see some more future researches regarding this aspect.
