High Fat Foods Can Prove To Be Drastic For Asthma Patients
Is your asthma getting worst and you don’t know the reason for it? Don’t worry a recent study regarding the asthma has been taken by Australian researchers and they have found that eating high fat and high energy meals may not be advisable for people with asthma because this condition can lead to the airway inflammation and it can also suppress the benefits of asthma controlling medicines, so may be your asthma is also getting bad because of this.
The study is though a very basic one and further studies are required for the confirmation of this issue but still there must be some reality in the findings because high fat foods have never being thought to bring goodness for health.
The findings of this research were presented recently at the American Thoracic Society ATS 2010 International Conference in New Orleans, Dr. Lisa Wood, a research fellow of the University of Newcastle, New South Wales, and colleagues have worked on this study and they have monitored many asthma patients and their eating routines for quite some time.
The researchers found that after eating high fat meals the asthma patients mostly gets the problems of airway inflammation. While talking about this study Dr Wood said that “Subjects who had consumed the high-fat meal had an increase in airway neutrophils and TLR4 mRNA gene expression from sputum cells, that didn’t occur following the low fat meal” and she further added “The high fat meal impaired the asthmatic response to albuterol. In subjects, who had consumed a high fat meal, the post-albuterol improvement in lung functions at three and four hours was suppressed”. Thus this recent is a very alarming one for the asthma patients because previously no such thing
was observed and that’s why asthma patients were not giving due consideration on their eating habits.
