Diabetes is sometimes quite serious in the sense that it does not allow the body to fight against any type of bacterial or viral infection. Therefore bacteria and virus can act upon people with diabetes more easily and produce further complications. Any part of the body is capable of getting infected very easily. Mostly affected parts included bladder, feet, skin, vagina and also the kidneys.

The immune system is affected easily because the blood flow to the extremities is reduced and also some of the nerve cells are attacked by the infections.

If the diabetes person is able to identify the infections immediately then they can be treated successfully. It is better to be aware of the infections to avoid any serious complications.

To get to know about the infections it is essential that you identify the symptoms of infections beforehand. The most common infections can be respiratory tract infections and urinary tract infections. Also the skin gets easily infected for people with diabetes.

Some of the symptoms which commonly occur in people with diabetes can be the following: High fever along with sweating, rashes all over the body, body pain with parts of the body getting swollen, any unhealed wound, throat infection with continuous cough lasting for a week, mouth sore and also headache. If any of these symptoms is found to remain for a week it is distinct that the person is very badly infected. Consulting the physician immediately will bring good result. If the infection is not treated as early as possible it will end up in severe complications.

The other symptoms of infections could be nausea and vomiting. Also the person feels continuous itching in vagina and also troubled while urinating. Sometimes the condition is very worse when the person experience painful and burning sensation while urinating. If the infection is very severe and un attended for many days then the person’s urine turns bloody and also it is foul smelling. This is very dangerous and so any type of urinary tract infection has to be treated immediately.

Another surprising source of infection could be the diabetes’s insulin injection. While injecting insulin into the body sometimes it happens that any of the agents which can slow down the immune system also enters the blood along with the insulin. This is how certain bacteria enter the body and such infection is termed as staph infection. Also in addition to the bacterial infection, the other source of infection is cause by some cells in the body which are known as yeast cells. These cells react with the white blood cells in the injected area. When the white blood cells get affected the immune system is automatically slowed down with no doubt. This usually occurs once the sugar level increases than the normal level and if it remains unchecked, it may lead to further complications.

The foot infection caused by the damage of the nerve cells is also a diabetes related infection. The damage of the nerve cells causes some problem in the sensation. Lack of sensation can occur when the injuries in any part of the foot remain unchecked for several days. Since the blood flow to the extremities is less for people with diabetes any infection takes time to get completely cured. Also due to the damage of the nerve cells the skin gets dried and cracked easily.

Thus the bacteria are able to enter into the body easily through the skin. If the foot injury is unnoticed for several days then it might lead to critical conditions like removing the affected area. Therefore if any of the wound remains unhealed for days together it is advisable to take the guidance of the physician as quick as possible.

It is always good for a person with diabetes to avoid infections to reduce complications. Care should be taken to avoid infections especially in the foot. Any skin problem that might give rise to an infection like a cut or a blister or a sore should be checked daily and treated now and then to prevent infection. Skin care is very important because if such problems remain unchecked they might turn into septic infection. Thus bacteria get entered into the blood stream making the condition worse than before. Urinary tract infections can be minimized and prevented by following good urinary hygiene. This is especially important for women as they tend to face urinary infection more easily. Usage of clean and hygienic toilets, taking good amount of fluid and also emptying the bladder frequently will help to avoid all sorts of urinary tract infections. Also it is essential that the diabetes person urinate promptly after sexual intercourse as it might also result in urinary infection. Once the infection is severe in urinary tract then the person feels pain and irritation. Therefore it is good to stay out of infection. The infections in vagina can be controlled by proper vaginal care. It is advised that people with vaginal infections avoid spermicides.

To be precise it is always safe for people to remain cautious about all types of infection if they have diabetes.  If any changes in the body occur then they have to consult the physician without delay. They can minimize the effects of the infection by treating immediately. Usually the body changes that are distinct are increase in body temperature and change in the normal blood sugar level.  To diagnose the diabetes related infections the normal tests that are to be taken are blood test, examination of the body secretion, and urine test. Some of the infections can always be treated by anti biotic though it may take quite a long time.  To prevent complications from becoming severe and worse it is good to keep the blood sugar level at a controlled rate and remain clean and hygienic always.
