Diabetes Drug Causes Fractures in Women: Research Revealed
A new research has showed that women who use to take the drugs for Diabetes which is commonly known as thiazolidinediones
which contains Avandia and Actos are more vulnerable to get fractures in their bones as compared to those who don’t take such medicine and it has also showed up that women who are over 65 have greater risks of getting this problem. According to the senior author of the study Dr. L. Keoki Williams, of the Center for Health Services Research at Henry Ford Hospital “Older women are already at a higher risk of osteoporosis and osteoporosis-related fractures, which might explain why they appeared to be the most affected”
The patients can also not leave the usage of these two drugs they help people with type two diabetes to better control their blood sugar level and they also work by lowering resistance to insulin and cutting amount of glucose made by lever but the recent research has made the doctors worried because they weakens the bones and gives higher risks of fractures. This finding has been published in the February issue of journal of clinical endocrinology & metabolism.
