The French foreign ministry alleged that official tourism body in Beijing was urging tour operators to close holidays to France. The allegation came forward in the middle of unpleasant relations between the two countries subsequent to Paris leg of the Olympic torch pass on.
During the last month, many pro-Tibet activists interrupted the event and also extinguished the torch.
According to Beijing’s officials, they have just told Chinese tourists to take care about their security and nothing else.
Almost 700,000 tourists from different parts of China visited France during the last year, some estimates suggest.
“Our embassy in Beijing considering talking with Chinese authorities to know the reason that motivated such sort of action,” stated Pascale Andreani, a foreign ministry spokesperson.
Recently, French President Nicolas Sarkozy has recommended that he may shun the opening ceremony of the Olympics if China doesn’t start talks with Dalai Lama. And the Chinese nationalists have suggested a boycott of French products.
The Olympic Torch pass on has also been disturbed in a number of cities like San Francisco and London.
